Live Loosley Takes Over The Performance Kitchen!

The Performance Kitchen; Live Loosley Take-over

As you know, I am a big advocate of people pushing their limits and getting out of their comfort-zone. For those who know me well, you know that I never feel more out of my comfort-zone than when I am the center of attention. So filming a 20 minute cooking show was massively pushing my limits! But when The Performance Kitchen asked if I’d be interested in doing a Live Loosley takeover episode, there was no way I could pass up the opportunity. Even though I hate being the center of attention and can be known for blushing when someone just looks at me too long, I always get a sense of satisfaction after spending some time out of my comfort-zone.

The Performance Kitchen is a YouTube channel that focuses on professional athletes, their sport/training and how their cooking impacts their performance. What better way to learn about fueling your body than from some of the best athletes in the world – straight from the source.

My episode was filmed right after World Champion Swimmer, Katy Sexton and right before Professional Basketball Player, Tayo Ogedengbe. The call sheet for filming that day also included: Sophie Papps, Chris Gregory and Vanessa Raw. All amazing athletes in their own right.

Morning everyone! I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

I’m waking up to a delicious bowl of Bircher Muesli to soothe the Monday Blues.

It’s not hard to fall in love with this overnight oats recipe – so easy to prepare and totally delicious.

I was introduced to Bircher Muesli in Mallorca on the RAAMIN4Charity training camp last month. Thanks to Suzanne, I now have a new favourite breakfast!

With the weather warming up too it is the perfect time to really appreciate this refreshing and filling breakfast.

The Spiralize Movement, Courgetti Recipe

I have always been mesmerized by the spiralizer, but never fully appreciated it until we invested in one last month.

Live Loosley Spiralizer

I assumed that spiralizer’s would be easy to break, hard to use and difficult to keep clean. It was a nice surprise to learn the exact opposite. We have the Dexam Spiralizer – it’s easy to use, durable (I spiralized a raw sweet potato and it didn’t break) and easy to keep clean.

Some extra bonuses…

  • Using a spiralizer is a great way to fit more vegetables in your diet… AND ENJOY IT.
  • If you’re like me and end up bleeding after trying to peel something, it’s a much safer option
  • Um, it’s extremely satisfying and takes little effort
  • Nostalgic – warming memories of helping my Aunt make homemade relish come flooding back to me

Here is an easy to prepare and healthy Pesto Courgetti recipe (aka ‘courgette spaghetti’ or ‘zucchini noodles’).

Crunchy Roast Chickpea Snack

Healthy Snack Live Loosley

I have a constant craving for crunchy and savoury snacks. I love everything about them. So when it comes to lunch at the office, I often prepare for this weakness. I know that no matter what I eat at lunch, I’ll still want a small bag of chips after.

Rather than exploiting my will power and feeling deprived of what I want… I take a different approach. The ’80/20′ rule. Be good 80% of the time and enjoy your cravings 20% of the time… eat 80% veg and 20% carbs… Make sure 80% of your day or your meal is healthy and well balanced.

Never deprive yourself of what you want, but make up for it in other areas. Being healthy doesn’t mean you live off of green smoothies and lettuce. It’s controlling your intake so you have a well balanced diet and ENJOY it.

I pack a light salad for lunches at the office. I do this so I can balance out my craving for a savoury snack… more often than not, chips.

Now that I’m not training as much as I was this Summer, I may need to get a bit more cleaver with fooling my cravings… So here is a HEALTHY crunchy and savoury snack that has helped me move away from my chip dependency.

This roast chickpea recipe is easy to prepare and is packed with nutrients like protein, fibre, calcium, iron and magnesium.

This weekend I baked a loaf of banana bread (recipe here) and three trays of flapjacks. I know a recipe is worth sharing when Dan eats an entire tray before they even cool off!

I have a couple great recipes to share that are PERFECT for long runs or long rides on the bike.

These flapjacks are nutritious, healthy, high in carbs and just what you need to re-fuel.
